Scott Bessent advises countries not to respond to US duties

On Wednesday, April 2, US Secretary of Economy Scott Bessent urged other countries not to respond to the new tariffs introduced by the United States. He noted that any action in response can lead to an escalation of the trade war. The statement was made in an interview for Foxnews, where Bessent shared his vision of the situation in the world trade markets.

"My advice to every country now is not to take action. Sit quietly. Take it," the minister said, emphasizing that such a decision is the best to avoid further aggravation of the situation.

Bessent noted that the United States is ready to continue to affirm its trade interests, and if other countries dare to impose duties in response, it will only be a step to escalation. "Let's see how everything goes, because if you take action, there will be an escalation. If you don't, it will not go," he warned.

US Ministry of Finance statements suggest that the United States does not intend to stop there and prepare for further trade measures, but expected other countries will refrain from counter -measures.

The situation with the introduction of new duties in the United States remains tense, and this approach causes various reactions among international trading partners. At the same time, some countries have expressed anxiety about the consequences of these measures for the global economy, and it is already suggested that further actions of the United States can lead to a wider economic crisis that will affect not only the US but also their trading partners.
