The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has announced the search for the former director of the state enterprise of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Inform-Resources" Yuhannan Babayev and his ex-deputy Vadym Matlayev in the case of embezzlement of the sum of 187 million hryvnias. This message was published on the NABU website and distributed by news agencies.
According to official data, the suspects have become objects of criminal proceedings under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including Article 191 "Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust", Article 388 "Exceeding authority by an official", as well as others.
According to the investigation, in the period from 2018 to 2019, Yuhannan Babayev, former director of the state-owned enterprise of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Inform-Resources", committed financial fraud together with third parties and transferred significant sums to the accounts of certain companies. These actions probably led to the illegal seizure of funds in the amount of 16.69 million hryvnias received from the sale of the company's property.
Three other suspects in this case have already agreed to cooperate with the investigation, which was approved by the higher anti-corruption court. NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office also provided information on new charges against the ex-director and his deputy. This criminal case continues to be developed and investigated by competent authorities.
