The United States has prepared a new package of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to Reuters, citing US officials, the appropriate measures have already been developed and should be approved by the President of the United States Donald Trump.
According to sources, sanctions apply, first of all, the banking and energy sectors of Russia. The goals include Gazprom's state energy company, as well as large structures that work in the field of natural resources and finances.
It is expected that a new package of restrictions will be another step in increasing economic pressure on Russia, and, according to the media, indicates the intention of Washington to activate its position on the Kremlin. However, it is unknown whether President Trump is signed. According to sources, the decision is still under consideration by the US National Security Council.
The Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for the imposition of sanctions, has not yet provided official comment on this issue.
