The US can sign the agreement before the NATO summit - Stefanyshyn

On Sunday, February 18, Olga Stephanyshyn, Viceremier-Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, reported the possibility of signing a security agreement between Ukraine and the United States before NATO Summit in Washington. She noted that although negotiations have already taken place, the emphasis on relations between countries has now been transferred to other priorities.

Stepanyshina noted that the corresponding negotiations were at the level of the deputy head of the Presidential Office Igor Zhovk. "Signing an agreement is a matter of time," she stressed.

She also noted that Ukraine is actively working with the US Congress on financing US assistance necessary to protect Ukrainian cities and support the country's defense capability. She stressed the need to supply ammunition to Patriot air defense systems as a question of direct importance to the survival of the nation.

Although the security guarantee agreement remains an important aspect of international cooperation, Stephanishina stressed the need for immediate action to ensure the defense of Ukraine. She assured that the document would be signed, but now the focus is to meet the urgent needs of the country in defense.
