The United States President Donald Trump has informed that duties on China's goods will be reduced but not completely canceled. He stated this during a session of questions and answers with journalists in the oval office, informs CNN.
According to Trump, the current rate of 145 percent is too high and will soon be revised. The President stressed that new duties will be "significantly lower", but their full cancellation is not considered.
“145 percent is a very high figure and it will not remain. He will not even be close to it. We will reduce it significantly. But it won't zero, "Trump said.
US media also report changes in moods in US political and financial circles about Beijing conflict. At a closed conference organized by the JP Morgan Chase, US Finance Minister Scott Bessent said that the continuation of the Trade War with China was a "non -viable option" and called for its de -escalation.
Bessent explained that the US strategic goal is not to isolate the Chinese market, but to "redeem trade relations" between the two states. He also said that both sides would return to a constructive dialogue in the near future.
In response to US tariffs, China has taken a number of measures. Among other things, the show of Hollywood films in the country was restricted, and at least two Boeing aircraft were returned to the United States, which were used to be used by Chinese airlines.
