The United States President Donald Trump can stop the mediation between Ukraine and Russia in the near future in the issues of a peace agreement. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with leading US media.
According to Rubio, it is now important to get clear signals about the possibility of concluding an agreement. If such signs do not appear in the coming days, the United States can focus on other areas of foreign policy.
He stressed that the US side does not plan prolonged negotiations that do not have a specific result. In his opinion, if progress has not become noticeable within a few days, there will be no sense in continuing the dialogue in the current format.
Rubio also stated that this war is not a matter of the United States, and that the US administration seeks to end the conflict as soon as possible, but will not participate in the process that looks unpromising.
Earlier, the Secretary of State called on Russia to demonstrate intentions to terminate the fighting as soon as possible. According to him, the decision should be made not in a month, but in the near future. Trump himself also noted that Moscow was waiting for the conditions to be proposed this week.
