The USA has explained why it will not shoot down Russian drones in the sky over Ukraine

The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) is not going to interfere with the conflict between Ukraine and Russia by killing Russian missiles and drones flying over the Ukrainian territory. This was stated by the deputy spokesman of the US Department of Defense Sabrina Singh. She explained that the involvement of NATO forces in such operations would be the direct involvement of the Alliance in the war with Russia, which is unacceptable for Western countries.

Singh also stressed that NATO interference with the Israeli conflict and the Ukrainian war cannot be compared, since these two hostilities have completely different landscapes and conditions. According to her, the Alliance's actions in each of these cases are significantly different, and in the case of Ukraine, military action over its territory cannot be a reason for direct NATO intervention.

Instead of direct participation in hostilities, the United States and their allies will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary military assistance, including air defense systems that will help protect the Ukrainian sky from Russian attacks. Singh noted that the United States pledged not to attract their own land forces in Ukraine, but continue to support its efforts to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The US Secretary of State has recently been talking to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov to get the latest data from the battlefield and to better understand what resources can be needed to further protect its territory. Singh emphasized that the Allies will continue to provide Ukraine with all the necessary support so that the country can resist Russian threats on its own.

Thus, although NATO does not plan to interfere directly into the airspace of Ukraine, Western allies remain on the side of Kiev, providing it with weapons to combat the aggressor.
