The temporary head of the US Embassy in Ukraine has been appointed Julie Davis, an experienced American diplomat, which has been heading a diplomatic mission in the Republic of Cyprus so far. This was reported by a spokeswoman for US State Department Temmy Bruce.
The decision on its appointment was made by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Davis will start duties in the near future.
Davis has more than 30 years of diplomatic service experience. Since February 2023, she worked as a US Ambassador to Cyprus. Before that, she held a number of important positions, including an ambassador to Belarus, a specialist in Lithuania, and also worked in Russia, Georgia and Ukraine. She also performed the duties of the US Deputy Permanent Representative for NATO and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the State Secretary for Western Europe and the EU.
The US Embassy in Ukraine states that Julie Davis will focus on peace, stop bloodshed and further strengthening American-Ukrainian relations.
The appointment of Davis is temporary because the appointment of a full ambassador requires the Senate's approval. The Temporary Attorneys are appointed by the US Presidential Administration without the need to approve in Congress.
