The Joe Baiden administration may relieve restrictions on the presence of US military contractors in Ukraine, which will allow the US to maintain and repair the military equipment supplied directly on the spot. Prior to the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russia in February 2022, the United States evacuated all its instructors from Ukraine and abandoned any military presence in the country. This made it exported to NATO countries, such as Poland and Romania, for repair.
Baiden's administration is currently reviewing these restrictions through the promotion of Russian troops and delayed military aids. The decision is currently under discussion and has not received final approval from the US President.
If this initiative is approved, the Pentagon will be able to enter into contracts for the placement of US contractors in Ukraine for the first time since 2022. The contractors will repair the equipment, including the F-16 fighters, which, by predictions, will require regular maintenance after their commissioning of Ukraine.
