The White House declared the hope of holding a new round of direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia next week. According to Kerline Levitt White House spokesman during a briefing on May 29, a meeting may take place in Istanbul.
“We hope that Russia and Ukraine will take part in direct negotiations and discussions next week in Istanbul. And we believe that this meeting will take place, ”Levitt said.
According to her, President Donald Trump supports the idea of such negotiations and places great hope for their potential result.
"This is a meeting that President Trump supported - that these two parties meet and have direct negotiations ... We hope that there will be progress in this case next week," she added.
It is not currently reported whether a US representative is present at the negotiations. "We will inform you if the president has plans to send their representative," the spokeswoman said.
