The US Administration clearly stated that it did not support the Kremlin's ideas for "external management" of Ukraine, including temporary management under the auspices of the UN. According to US State Department representative Temmy Bruce, the White House focuses on the peaceful settlement of the war, emphasizing that both Kiev and Moscow must make difficult and rigid decisions that will include compromises.
At a briefing on March 31, Bruce stated that the United States rejects Moscow's ideas, according to which Ukraine should be exposed to external administration under the control of the UN. She noted that Ukraine is an independent constitutional democracy, and power in the country is determined only by its constitution and the choice of the Ukrainian people.
"I do not think that I need to remind everyone, but it is a good reminder: Ukraine is a constitutional democracy. Governance in Ukraine is determined by its constitution and the Ukrainian people," Bruce emphasized, answering journalists' questions.
Temmy Bruce also noted that the United States is actively working to "plant Russia and Ukraine at the negotiating table" to ensure a complete ceasefire. The Trump administration emphasizes the need for diplomacy to achieve a long peaceful settlement of the conflict, which will include concessions and readiness for compromises on both sides.
"President Trump made it clear that Russia and Ukraine should now move to a full ceasefire, and nothing has changed," Bruce summed up.
These statements confirm the US policy aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Instead of making unilateral decisions or agreeing to an external management, Washington emphasizes the importance of negotiations and achieving mutual concessions. The US administration continues to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and insists that any conflict settlement should be based on the principles of Kiev's independence and sovereignty.
