US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States intends to "control" the Gaza Sector. He stated this during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyag on February 4, quotes CNN.
According to Trump, the US will not only control this region, but also be responsible for its restoration and demining:
"The US will take control of the Gaza Sector and we will work with it. We will own it and be responsible for dismantling all dangerous bombs and other weapons in the territory, we will align the terrain and get rid of destroyed buildings," he said.
The American leader also did not exclude the departure of troops to ensure gas safety.
"As for Gaza, we will do what we need. If necessary, we will do it. We are going to take this part and develop it," he said.
Trump outlined his vision of the future region, assuming that the gas could turn into a "Middle East Rivne". He stated that this region would be attractive not only to Palestinians, but also to people from all over the world.
"It will be just wonderful," he said, adding that his plan can bring a "Great Peace" to the whole region. He also announced a visit to the Gaza, Israel and Saudi Arabia sector, although he did not specify the deadline.
Benjamin Netanyago has positively appreciated the American leader's initiative, saying, "I think it can change the story. And I think it's really worth going this way."
It is known that Trump has repeatedly expressed the idea of resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Sector to Egypt and Jordan, calling the region a "very dangerous place for living."
At the same time, according to analysts, Israel seeks to expand cooperation with the United States in the military sphere. In particular, Netanyaga and his delegation are trying to receive the approval of large -scale weapons, including thousands of new bombs, rockets, artillery and other weapons from the Trump administration.
If Trump agrees to this, it will be another step in deepening Israel's military support from the US, which can significantly change the balance of power in the Middle East.
