The USA struck Houthi targets in Yemen

The American military conducted a series of pinpoint strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. This was announced by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) on Wednesday, January 1.

It is noted that the strikes were carried out on December 30 and 31. US Navy ships and aircraft participated in the operation, which attacked:

  • the command and headquarters facility of the Houthis;
  • facilities for the production and storage of modern weapons, including missiles and drones.

According to CENTCOM, these facilities were used by the Houthis to attack US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In addition, the US Navy and Air Force destroyed:

  • the coastal radar station of the Houthis;
  • seven cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Red Sea.

The command assured that no American personnel were injured during the operation and no military equipment was damaged.

CENTCOM emphasized that these strikes are part of an effort to reduce the ability of the Iran-backed Houthis to threaten US regional partners, as well as military and merchant ships in the region.
