Fears in the EU: the return of Trump could lead to the collapse of NATO

Fears in the European Union on the possible return of Donald Trump to the presidential seat in the United States in 2024 are outraged by diplomats and officials in a number of European countries. According to the American newspaper The New York Times, EU representatives are mastered by uncertainty and anxiety because they are not sure how to cooperate with a possible 45th US President.

European politicians have struck that Trump's return will not only refuse to support Ukraine, but also the removal of the United States from Europe and destroy NATO. They emphasize that Trump has previously expressed doubts about the existence of the Atlantic Alliance, considering it "by eating US resources as tights."

Journalists who have communicated with several European officials report that government colleagues are growing anxiety due to the possible consequences of Trump's return to power. They point to the mysterious phrase from Trump's election campaign about the "fundamental reassessment of NATO's goals and mission", which causes enormous uncertainty among the EU allies.

According to the former NATO Commander -in -Chief James Stavidis, indignation and anxiety about the possible exit of the United States from NATO during Trump's second term, considered a strategic failure for the country and a historical mistake, are spreading in Europe.

Diplomats are now actively trying to find out Trump's intentions, in particular, about NATO's attitude, and European countries that consider themselves to be "most vulnerable to attack by Russia," consider the opportunity to win Trump's commitment by increasing the procurement of American weapons or symbolic gestures intended for his boasting.
