In Serbia, large -scale student protests caused by the tragedy at the railway station in the New Garden, which happened three months ago. Thousands of students from all over the country gathered in the city of Kragayevac to express their indignation and demand justice for the victims of the roof of the station. Some participants even arrived from the capital of Belgrade, located 140 km.
The protesters kept national flags, beat the drums, whistled, and the locals greeted them with applause. As a symbolic act of honoring the memory of the victims, they planned to block the chief boulevard of Kraguywac for 15 hours and 15 minutes.
The basic requirements of students include the publication of official documents on collapse, fair investigation and punishment of the perpetrators, cancellation of accusations against protesters and increasing higher education financing.
Protests have become particularly publicized because of the widespread bribery and distrust of government agencies in the country. Many Serbs are convinced that the tragedy was a consequence of government corruption related to infrastructure projects implemented with the participation of Chinese companies.
