The Supreme Anti -Corruption Court did not change the decision on the former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories, Yuri Grimchak. The court set a period of imprisonment of 10 years, which was declared earlier.
The Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported it on December 19, noting that the appellate instance rejected the appeal of the defense and supported the position of the SAP prosecutor.
"The court of appeal, having heard the arguments of the parties, supported the position of the SAP prosecutor and refused to satisfy the appeal of the defense party. Thus, the court left unchanged by the BCS verdict, which former minister was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property," the SAP said.
The sentence that has come into force after the proclamation may be appealed in cassation in the Supreme Court for three months.
On February 2022, Grimchak was found guilty of extortion and a multimillion -dollar bribe. The excendants were sentenced to influence the decisions of the courts and officials of the Ministry of Culture to make favorable decisions regarding construction.
The court's decision became final, emphasizing the severity of the crime and pleading with the fault of the former high -ranking official.
