The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv decided to take custody of the People's Deputy Yevgeny Shevchenko, who is suspected of treason. There is no pledge for him. Shevchenko was detained after the suspicion was announced, in particular for the damage to Ukraine's defense and information security.
According to the investigation, the deputy systematically carried out information and subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation. He spread Russian propaganda fakes on events in Ukraine, its foreign policy and the activities of the Defense Forces Command. In October-November 2024, Shevchenko actively disseminated misinformation about the situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine through its own channels on YouTube, Telegram, and media, including Russian.
On charges of treason, the People's Deputy faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
