Security forces are improving the process of analyzing combat experience according to the NATO methodology in the Armed Forces

“Ukrainian armed forces make a partnership with a public organization“ Boryviter Military School ”and improve the study of NATO's combat experience”

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stanislav Hider, Major General Volodymyr Koval, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the head of the public organization "Boryviter Military School" Orest Bilous, signed a memorandum on partnership and cooperation. By studying and implementing the Lessons Learned methodology (study of experience), the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine hope to obtain a more accurate picture of the course of war and the needs of the front, as well as to make effective management decisions on the basis of analytical data.

The NGO "Boryviter Military School" will take the task of teaching methodology and building appropriate processes to ensure the military-political leadership of the state with the real experience of hostilities. The methodology is completely based on NATO principles.

"We are making important changes with the state. Studying the NATO approach, we are building a process in Ukraine," Orest Bilous said.

With the implementation of analytics, military units will carefully analyze their operations, quickly draw conclusions and adjust actions in a timely manner. This, in turn, will save the lives of warriors, minimize or avoid losses, improve the quality of combat missions as a whole.

Regarding the role of the Ministry of Defense in the implementation of "Lessons Learned":

  • The Defense Ministry will form a policy on information and analytical activities for all defense forces;
  • Will provide training and preparation of analysts to work with the Lessons Learned Base;
  • Will interact with partners to share experience.

"Our partners are interested in sharing the experience of Ukrainian defenders in the fight against the Russian enemy. The introduction of the methodology 'Lessons Learned' will allow us to be on one wave with foreign colleagues on one wave," said Stanislav Haider. The Deputy Minister of Defense added that accumulated information will serve more specific identification of problems that hinder the strengthening of the capabilities of the Ukrainian army.
