The Russian Federation has intensified fighting in the northeast of Ukraine, in fact, starting a new stage of large -scale offensive in Sumy and Kharkiv region. This was stated by the Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Sirsky in an interview with LB.ua , published on April 9.
According to the commander -in -chief, over the last week there is a rapid increase in the number of offensive operations by Russian troops in all major areas of the front. This indicates that Russia has started the implementation of a new stage of strategic operation to seize Ukrainian territories.
"I can say that the President is completely right, and this offensive has actually started. Because for a few days, almost a week, we have seen an increase in almost twice the number of offensive actions of the enemy in all major areas," Sirsky said.
Oleksandr Syrsky stressed that the Kremlin's goal remains unchanged - it is a complete occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, a partial occupation of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions, as well as the creation of a so -called buffer zone in the border regions of Ukraine.
"The enemy continues the strategic offensive operation for the seizure of our territory, the defeat of our troops, the promotion deep into Ukraine. It is not only about the Donbas, but also about the territories of Kherson, Zaporozhye, as well as Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv regions," he said.
Such actions of the Kremlin are not only to capture new territories, but also to destabilize the rear of Ukraine, to destroy logistics, to create panic among the population and to pressure on political leadership.
Despite Russia's statements about the readiness for negotiations, the intensity of hostilities is only increasing. According to Syrsky, the Russian military command uses "tactics of exhaustion" - attacking constantly and trying to break through Ukrainian defense in several sections of the front at the same time.
Russia is also actively transferring additional reserves, including mobilized and mercenaries, and increases aviation strikes in frontline cities and logistics Hubs of the Armed Forces.
In an interview, Alexander Sirsky also commented on the possible threat of a new offensive from the territory of Belarus. He drew attention to the preparation for the joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises "West-2025", which, according to the military leadership of Ukraine, can have a hidden goal.
"All the exercises have some purpose. And one of these goals is a hidden creation of offensive troops. That is, the visibility of the training is the most appropriate way to relocate, to transfer troops, to concentrate in some direction and to create a shock force. In fact, it began in 2022," the commander said.
