Taliba do not allow students to study in Russia, fearing changes in their views

The fifty Afghan students who were ready to start their studies in Russia were in a difficult situation because of the prohibition imposed by the Taliban authorities. Officially, the Afghan Higher Education Ministry has announced that these students could not continue their studies in Russia because of fears that studying abroad could change their views.

According to AM Media, students took all the necessary steps to travel to the Russian Federation, including a physical examination, paid the necessary contributions (from $ 100 to $ 150 for receiving documents and medical examinations) and were ready for further stages - receiving scholarships and entry. They even successfully passed the exams in 2024. However, the Talibi decided to limit their opportunity to study abroad, explaining that students can change their religious and political beliefs in Russia. "Muslims go and return to the Communists," the Afghan Higher Education Ministry notes, explaining its position. Most students who have already completed all administrative procedures have asked Afghan diplomats to help resolve the situation through the diplomatic channel. They ask for interaction with the Taliban to resolve the questions and let them go to Russia to get education.

This situation causes serious fears among Afghan youth, as it jeopardizes their future and the opportunity to get quality education abroad. At the same time, it is another step that testifies to severe political and ideological restrictions that the Taliban authorities impose on their citizens.
