In May, the world sales of Toyota Motor Corp. reached the third consecutive month. The company sold 955 532 cars, which is 8% more than in the same period last year. Production amounted to 906 984 units.
Positive dynamics were ensured by a stable demand for hybrid models, especially in the US, Japan and China markets. Sales of Toyota cars and the Lexus brand have increased by more than 4% in Japan, 7% in China and 11% in North America.
In July, the company is planning to raise prices by more than $ 200 by a number of models sold in the US. This decision was made within the framework of planned price revision.
At the same time, the carmaker warns of possible financial losses if negotiations with the US administration do not reduce the tariff load. In May, the company has already stated that it expects a loss of about $ 1.2 billion in April and May.
Other Japanese companies demonstrate worse dynamics. Honda reported the fall of world sales in May by 4%, up to 298 167 units, and production decreased by 6%. Nissan sales decreased by 6%, up to 256 159 units, and production volumes fell by almost 17%, up to 229 645 units. Subaru and Mazda have not yet provided annual forecasts for the financial year, which will end in March 2026.
