Tragedy at a ski resort in Spain

At the ski resort of Astun, located in the Pyrenees in the north of Spain, there was a chair lift accident. According to the Aragonese authorities, 17 people were seriously injured, and dozens of others were injured. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties, but rescue operations are ongoing.

According to the Civil Guard, the chair lift broke off from a height of 15 meters. The cause of the accident is currently unknown, an investigation is underway.

24 ambulances and helicopters were involved in rescuing the victims. Additional medical personnel are working in local hospitals to provide assistance to the victims. The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, expressed his condolences to the victims and their families. In his message on the social network X (Twitter), he noted: “Shocked by the news about the accident at the Astun ski resort. I spoke to the president of Aragon to offer him the full support of the government. All our love to the victims and their families.”
