On Tuesday, May 20, US President Donald Trump did not confirm in response to the journalist's questions and did not deny the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Russia. The question was raised in the context of the expectations of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the stringent response of Washington to Moscow's actions.
"It will be my decision. It will not be a solution to someone else ... We now have a rather critical time," Trump said, emphasizing the importance of a recent conversation with Vladimir Putin, which lasted more than two and a half hours.
The US president also mentioned that he had contact with numerous European leaders, describing conversations as "very good". At the same time, he refrained from specific sanction policy, noting only that he would observe the further actions of Russia and "hopes something will happen."
The absence of a clear position is concerned in Kiev, as Ukraine expects more decisive steps from the United States against the background of continuing aggression by the Russian Federation.
