Trump signed key decrees on science and nuclear power

US President Donald Trump has signed two key decrees aimed at changing the approach to the development of science and nuclear energy in the country. According to the White House website on May 23, the initiatives are focused on strengthening the technological potential of the United States and strengthening confidence in the scientific community.

The first decree concerns the "revival of nuclear energy". It envisages the intensification of research in the field of advanced nuclear reactors that will be tested in the national laboratories of the Ministry of Energy. The document also simplifies the procedure for licensing new technologies through a nuclear regulation commission and opens the door to the construction of nuclear facilities in federal lands.

"We restore a powerful nuclear industrial base, build a safe and sovereign fuel supply chain and lead the world to the future, which will work on American nuclear energy," - said Michael Kratiosioio Director of the White House Science and Technology Department.

The second decree introduces the so -called "gold standard of science". Its purpose is to strengthen scientific integrity by affirming the principles of transparency, openness to criticism, verification of results and avoiding conflict of interest. The White House notes that all federal scientific agencies should adapt their activities in accordance with new requirements.

"This decree we restore public trust in science," the official message reads.

In addition to state structures, the Trump administration calls on universities and research institutions across the country to "return to foundations" and adhere to high standards of objectivity and ethics in scientific work.
