US President Donald Trump during a conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that Ukraine be transferred to Ukrainian power plants to ensure their best protection. This proposal was heard during a telephone conversation between the leaders of the states, which was reported by the US National Security Advisor and the US Secretary of Secretary in a joint statement read on March 19 in Washington by a spokesman.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Libitt said "today President Trump and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a fantastic telephone conversation." According to her, Zelensky thanked Trump for a productive beginning, especially after meeting the Ukrainian and American teams in Jedda on March 11, which helped to move to the end of the war.
The President of Ukraine also expressed gratitude to the United States for military support - from Javelin's anti -tank missiles, provided during Trump's first term, to modern assistance aimed at strengthening Ukrainian defense.
"Leaders agreed that Ukraine and America will continue to work together to really put an end to the war," Libitt emphasized.
Trump's proposal for the transfer of Ukrainian power plants under US control is part of a general strategy aimed at strengthening the security of Ukrainian energy infrastructure. At the same time, the final decision on this issue will require additional negotiations and technical justification.
According to the results of the conversation, the parties agreed to meet technical groups to discuss possible ways of implementation of the proposal.
