US President Donald Trump put forward an ultimatum of Ukraine and Russia, demanding that both parties sit at the negotiating table immediately. If this does not happen, the United States intends to get out of the process of peaceful conflict resolution. This statement was made by US President Special Representative Steve Witcoff in an interview with Breitbart News, which was published the day before.
According to Witcoff, President Trump believes that direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are needed to achieve peace. He stressed that such negotiations are the only way to find a solution and added that the speed of their conduct is critical. The United States is ready to get out of the negotiation process if the parties do not agree to direct contacts.
"The decisions work when there are direct negotiations. We need to plant Ukrainians and Russians at one table," Vitcoff said, explaining that only this way can you change the situation. "Now it was a brutal war - they do not like each other. We must change it. We must make everyone think that a responsible way to solve this problem is a diplomatic solution," he added.
