US President Donald Trump again made a resonant statement about the war in Ukraine and its desire to join NATO. In an interview with Sky News and CNN, he expressed the opinion that Ukraine should give up Euro -Atlantic ambitions, because this, in his opinion, was the cause of a full -scale invasion of Russia.
“I will not talk about it now. I can say: forget about NATO. This is probably the reason why it started, ”Trump said, hinting that Ukraine's desire to join the Alliance could provoke the Kremlin for aggression.
Trump also expressed his vision of the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the war. He called him "a very smart guy and a tricky man," noting that he personally dealt with "very bad people", but in his opinion, Putin did not intend to resolve the conflict.
"I think he wanted all this," Trump said, referring to a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
He also stated that if he were elected President of the United States, Putin would not be able to carry out further offensive.
