Keith Kellogg, whom US President-elect Donald Trump plans to appoint as a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, said that the conflict in Ukraine could be "resolved" within the next few months. In his opinion, Donald Trump is the person who can achieve this result.
"When it comes to Ukraine and Russia, I really believe that this can be resolved within the next few months. The only person who can do that is President Trump, and he will. They're tired of killing each other out there," Kellogg said.
Kellogg also said that he is considering a trip to Ukraine and Russia to study the situation on the ground. He clarified that at this stage the administration of the elected president does not yet have the authority to conduct official negotiations.
“We're looking at some plans to go and just listen... Not to negotiate because we're not part of the government yet, but to really listen to these people. We are looking at the timetable for the near term to do this in the near term and have the right elements that we can present to President Trump so that he can decide what he wants to do," he said.
When asked about the possibility of inviting the presidents of Ukraine and Russia to the inauguration of Donald Trump, Kellogg did not rule out such a possibility. However, he did not announce specific plans in this regard.
