Former US President and candidate for the upcoming elections Donald Trump has sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, accusing him of refusing to sign an agreement to end the war with Russia. The statements came during Trump's speech in North Carolina, as he stepped up his attacks on Kyiv ahead of the US election.
Trump said that the United States continues to provide billions of dollars to Ukraine, although, in his opinion, Zelensky cannot make a deal that would be better than the current situation. "You have a country that was destroyed," he emphasized, pointing to the consequences of the war for Ukraine.
These words were a response to Zelensky's statements, which he made at the beginning of his visit to the United States, where the Ukrainian president questioned Trump's ability to quickly reach an agreement with Russia.
In his speech, Trump also criticized current US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for keeping the US "entangled" in the conflict because of the White House's decision. "There is no Ukraine. This is not Ukraine anymore. You will never be able to replace these cities and towns, and you will never be able to replace dead people," added Trump, emphasizing the dire consequences of the war for the Ukrainian people.
