Three EU countries have blocked the decision to purchase ammunition for Ukraine outside the bloc

The European Union considers the possibility of reducing the lack of ammunition in Ukraine, using funds from a joint stock for the purchase of shells in the international market. However, according to three EU diplomats, a group of countries, headed by France, blocks attempts to use EU funds to purchase shells outside the Union. This is due to the fact that EU weapons are required to support production.

At a meeting of the Committee on Policy and Security this week, most EU countries have supported the use of EU funds to buy out -of -EU shells as an extraordinary event to assist Ukraine. However, France, Greece and Cyprus denied it.

Despite the fact that in early January, the French official reported that France was willing to allow purchases outside the EU, if the Union did not provide the supply of 1 million shells to Ukraine until March, it did not happen.

France also does not disclose the total amount of its deliveries to Ukraine, despite the pressure from Germany.

The growth of ammunition production has become a recent topic of discussion. Estonia Prime Minister Kai Callas reported that Europe has increased the production of shells for Ukraine three times, but it was not possible to reach one million target.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky expressed his intention to consider increasing the supply of ammunition to help Ukraine.

Norway has also announced the allocation of more than $ 90 million to grow ammunition production and the development of the country's defense industry.
