Turkey has entered into an important agreement with Portugal, which opens a new page in military cooperation between the two countries. As part of this Agreement, Turkey will build two ships for the Navy (Navy) of Portugal. This contract is a landmark because it is for the first time when Turkey will supply NATO member state ships and the European Union.
The general contractor will be the Turkish company STM Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc, which has already established itself in the international market, in particular, builds corvettes for the Ukrainian Navy. Within the framework of the new agreement, the company will build two ships of replenishment and logistics, which will significantly strengthen the possibilities of Portugal in providing its naval equipment.
This contract is an important step for Turkey in expanding its naval exports and increasing its importance in the context of defensive cooperation with EU and NATO countries. It is also a testament to the high quality of Turkish defense technologies that are in demand among alliance partners.
This step strengthens Turkey's strategic ties with NATO countries and promotes the development of the defense sector on the European continent.
