The head of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan confirmed his country's willingness to become a mediator in the new round of negotiations between Kiev and Moscow. About it reports the Turkish edition of Hürriyet.
During a two -day visit to Russia, Fidan had already met with President Vladimir Putin, which lasted about an hour. Discussions were devoted to the current situation in the region and the opportunities to restore the negotiation process.
In addition, within the framework of the visit, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry plans to negotiate with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and the head of the Ministry of Defense Andriy Bilousov. The Turkish side is hopeful that its diplomatic efforts will contribute to the beginning of a new dialogue between the warring parties.
Earlier, Turkey has repeatedly been a mediator in the conflict, offering platform for negotiations and facilitating humanitarian initiatives. Now, against the backdrop of long fighting and stagnation in the peace process, Turkey seeks to activate the role in the search for a diplomatic decision.
So far, Ukraine's reaction to this initiative has not been officially published. However, in the world, it is expected that a new round of negotiations through Turkey can be an important step in the de -escalation of conflict.
