Turkey strikes PKK bases after terrorist attack in Ankara

After a recent terrorist attack in Ankara, Turkey intensified its military campaign against the Kurdistan's working party (RPC). In response to the threat that the Turkish authorities associate with this organization, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported new strikes at the RPC bases in northern Iraq and Syria. According to TRT Haber, the operation performed within the right to self -defense is ongoing, and 32 terrorist goals have already been destroyed.

Operation Against RPC: Strikes on Syria and Iraq

The Turkish Armed Forces made massive attacks on several strategic facilities of the RPC located in the Syrian cities of El Kalyshlo and Koban, as well as in the Iraqi city of Sinjar. The operation used military aircraft, unmanned apparatus and artillery, which caused significant losses among fighters. Official Ankara emphasizes that these blows aim to prevent new terrorist acts, in particular in Turkey.

The presence of Turkish military in the border regions remains a source of tension in relations between Baghdad and Ankara. The armed conflict with the RPC has been going on since 1984, recovering with new force in 2015, and the bases of this organization in northern Iraq have been the objects of air and land operations of the Turkish army for many years.

Possible connection of RPC with terrorist attack in Ankara

Earlier, Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikai reported that the RPC could be involved in a recent terrorist attack in the capital. This was confirmed by the Minister of Defense Yashar Guler, emphasizing that Ankara will not leave the threat posed by the RPC. Turkish authorities promptly detained Bari Yusubov, a suspected activist of the RPC, who, according to special services, worked not only in Iraq but also in other countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan and Armenia.

Yusubov is suspected of conducting propaganda activities in favor of the RPC, in particular in the Mahmur refugee camp in Iraq, which has been the basis of this organization for a long time. Its detention is part of a large -scale operation of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization and the Antalya Province.

Tension between Turkey and Kurdish forces

Turkey operations in the north of Syria and Iraq continue against the background of increasing tension between Ankara and Kurdish forces. After the terrorist attack in Ankara, the situation has only aggravated, and blows to Syrian and Iraqi cities can further aggravate relations with Kurdish groups, which, for their part, often accuse Turkey of violating their territorial rights.

Turkey insists on its right to self -defense, emphasizing that actions against the RPC and other terrorist organizations are necessary to ensure the security of the country.
