Tusk told about the results of the EU summit in Paris

At the summit of the European Union leaders, which took place in Paris on February 17, no specific decisions were made regarding the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a briefing after the summit. According to him, such meetings usually do not lead to immediate decisions, but the summit emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation in the field of European security and developing a common strategy for the end of the war in Ukraine.

Tusk noted that EU leaders confirmed their readiness to increase defense costs. In particular, defense costs will no longer be perceived as excessive. He also stressed that it is a "serious concession" that is in line with Poland's policy, which has been actively urging to increase defense expenditures in recent months.

"You do not need to be annoyed if the American ally says: spend more, be stronger and more stable," Tusk added, emphasizing the importance of strengthening defense at the level of individual Member States and the EU in general.

The Head of Poland also stressed that the participants of the summit have full confidence that Europe will be able to effectively support Ukraine in preserving its sovereignty, but for this Europe will need to strengthen its defensive positions.

The summit was attended by EU key countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Dania, as well as by the European Commission and NATO. The meeting discussed important issues of defense policy and strategic partnership within the EU.
