Special services of Ukraine, including the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Prosecutor General's Office, conduct a number of searches in the framework of the investigation of the scheme organized by the People's Deputy of Ukraine. According to the information provided by the SBU press service, the deputy organized a mechanism for illegal departure of citizens abroad.
The official statement does not indicate the name of the People's Deputy, but the media have already reported that it was about deputy Alexander Dubinsky. According to the SBU's statement, the deputy used a public organization controlled by him to enter the "necessary people" in the volunteer system for the purpose of illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine. Among these "clients" was the brother of the civilian wife of the deputy.
The Security Service of Ukraine found that part of the necessary documents for the organization of escape to the border was stored with the former assistant of the deputy, who is also a deputy of the Kiev regional council of the 8th convocation, as well as with a close relative of the deputy.
Searches are currently underway at the places of work and accommodation of the participants of the scheme, including the office of the NGO, where the reception room of the People's Deputy is located.
The investigation opened criminal proceedings under an article on illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, which according to the Ukrainian Criminal Code can lead to a sentence of up to 7 years in prison.
This is not the first incident related to the deputy Alexander Dubinsky. In August, he was suspected of official forgery to travel abroad. According to the investigation, the deputy provided false information in official documents to justify his travel abroad. In connection with this new investigation, the deputy was the focus of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.
