Finland assumed the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, did not rule out the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, writes Politico.

"Western countries, including the United States, should not so categorically reject the idea of sending troops to Ukraine if the situation there worsens," Valtonen said.

In her opinion, this is quite possible in the long term, because "no one knows how serious the situation will become."

"At the same time, Finland's position is clear: now we will not send any troops and we do not want to discuss this issue," she added.

At the end of February, at a conference in support of Ukraine in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the leaders of Western countries had discussed the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, but had not reached a consensus. His idea was sharply criticized in Europe.

The Kremlin responded to these words with a warning. Vladimir Putin said that such a decision by the West would have serious consequences for Kyiv and its allies.
