Law enforcement officers neutralized the activities of two organized criminal groups, which have arranged underground drug laboratories in Kyiv and Kyiv region. The capacity of these laboratories was allowed to produce up to 10 kilograms of amphetamine monthly, which provided the criminals with a profit of about 3 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, May 6.
According to the investigation, residents of the capital aged 40 and 50 years of age became the organizers of the drug business. Together with seven accomplices, they were engaged in the manufacture of psychotropic substances, in particular amphetamine, as well as a precursor of phenylnitropropen. Subsequently, these substances came true in Kiev.
Underground drug laboratories were equipped in apartments and garages in the Desnyansk and Svyatoshinsky districts of the capital, as well as in a private house in the Kiev region. Laboratory equipment, chemicals, ready for sale amphetamine and components for its manufacture, were found there.
In addition to drugs, one of the defendants seized a firearm - a rifle, two grenades and a TNT checker. In addition to narcotics, he was also suspected of illegal weapons and arms.
All nine participants of the criminal scheme were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 307 (illegal production and sale of drugs in large sizes) and Part 3 of Art. 311 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production of precursors). Eight of them chose a measure of detention in the form of detention without bail. One suspect is under a 24 -hour house arrest.
The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers do not rule out that the network could have a branch in other regions of Ukraine.
