Another terrible attack on the civilian population took place in Nigeria: armed terrorists, probably from the Islamist group "Boko Haram", attacked the village of Kuchi. According to local authorities, militants entered the village on motorcycles, ransacked houses, killed 10 people and kidnapped 160 residents.
The attack happened early in the morning, when the village was still sleeping. Militants started shooting and setting fire to houses, causing panic among residents. Among the dead were mostly those who tried to protect the village and ensure security in the area. The armed attackers left no chance for resistance, using modern weapons against the almost unarmed villagers.
The militants took with them 160 local residents, most of whom are women and children. Local authorities and law enforcement agencies are trying to find out the whereabouts of the kidnapped and organize their rescue. They also appealed to the federal government and international organizations for help.
The Islamist group Boko Haram is known for its brutality and numerous terrorist attacks in northeastern Nigeria. The group seeks to establish Sharia rule and opposes Western-style education and culture. They often attack civilians, kidnap people and use them as slaves or for ransom.
