In North Macedonia, for the first time, a woman will hold the post of president

Gordana Silyanovskaya-Dolovkova, 68-year-old professor of law and candidate from the opposition conservative party, won the presidential election in Northern Macedonia, becoming the first female president in the history of the country. In the second round, she received support for 65.1% of voters, ahead of her competitor, the current President Stevo Kredarovsky, who received 29.3% of the vote.

"Together with the women, I will take a big step forward, a step towards reforms," Silyanovskaya-Davka said in front of her supporters.

It represents the opposition party of the Conservatives "Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - the Democratic Party of Macedonian National Unity", which is the basis of the coalition "Your Macedonia" together with 22 other parties. This coalition also won the parliamentary elections, having received 43.2% of the vote. The party's rival was the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, which took second place with a result of 15.4%.

It is noted that in recent years, the Macedonians have been disappointed through the slow movement of the country before joining the European Union, a sluggish economy and a failure to fight corruption.
