On Sunday, June 2, a tragedy occurred in Turkish Istanbul: a five -storey building collapsed. According to preliminary data, the reason was the failure to comply with building codes. Although there were no dead, it is known about 8 victims, one person died of injuries.
The reasons for the collapse of the house are still established, but there are no signs of explosions or seismic activity. Only two upper floors were used for living, others were commercial.
The Ministry of Urbanization of Turkey has stated that the apartments were built in violation of building standards and additional floors were added illegally. The residents of the house reported that its demolition was planned but not carried out, and people continued to live there.
