At Sotheby's auction, a extremely rare blue diamond weighing 10.3 carats was sold in Sothheby's Geneva. This was reported by France24 on Wednesday, May 14.

A diamond, which has a rich blue color and a bright natural glow, was extracted in Kullinan mines in the South African Republic. The estimated starting value of the jewelry was $ 20 million, but during the bidding the price increased to $ 21.5 million.

Bidding began with $ 10.8 million, but quickly gained due to a high interest in a unique gemstone. The buyer was a private collector from the United States, whose name is not disclosed.

Before the auction, the stone was presented at an exhibition in Abu Dhabi, organized by the same auction home. There, a blue diamond was exhibited with seven extraordinary diamonds and other jewelry. The total cost of the collection presented at the exhibition exceeded $ 100 million.
