Josep Borrel, the Supreme Representative of the European Union for Foreign Relations and Security Policy, stressed at a press conference in Brussels that any involvement of Russia in the next peace sample should take place on the basis of international law, not on the proposals of Vladimir Putin.
“I am convinced that President Zelensky will continue the offensive in these negotiations to have the next conference in Russia's presence. This is real, certainly. We have already said what was said - the next step requires Russia's involvement. But how should I take what President Putin said during the Prime Minister's visit to Moscow? Look - these are the prerequisites that Putin puts forward. Yes, of course, we need to hope for peace through diplomatic talks, but on a certain basis. And this is not a Putin basis, ”Borrel said.
He added that the EU supports the formula of Zelensky.
Recall that in a recent interview, the Ukrainian president himself has admitted negotiations with Russia and stop the war by the end of the year, without returning all territories.
We will remind, Putin's proposals for the end of the war in Ukraine include the requirement of transfer of the Russian Federation to the entire territory of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions, neutral status of Ukraine and the removal of sanctions from the Russian Federation.
