Hungary criticizes Ukraine and the EU because of the disruption of oil supplies

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siarto accused Ukraine of disruption of Russian oil supplies through Druzhba oil pipeline. According to him, the reason was the alleged nightly Ukrainian bombing of the dispatching station in the territory of Russia, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Energy. Repairs are currently underway to restore the oil pipeline.

Hungary, which receives a large part of the oil through the Druzhba pipeline, has suffered from supply stops. Siarto stressed that this incident is regarded by Budapest as an "attack on Hungary's sovereignty" because it affects the country's national energy security.

The European Commission has guaranteed that there will be no attack on Hungary's energy infrastructure. Unfortunately, this is once again when the guarantee of the European Commission was broken. We urge Ukrainians not to attack Hungary's energy infrastructure. Hungary is not responsible for the war between Russia and Ukraine , Peter Siarto said.

This statement seems like a continuation of the pro -Russian rhetoric of Hungary, which tries to maintain stable relations with Moscow, despite the war in Ukraine and EU sanctions against Russia. Budapest has repeatedly opposed the imposition of rigid sanctions that could damage its economic interests.

At the same time, Siarto emphasized the importance of the peaceful settlement of the conflict and expressed his hope for positive results from the efforts of former US President Donald Trump to promote peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Although Ukraine has not officially commented on the accusations of the Hungarian Minister, the Ukrainian side has repeatedly emphasized that any attacks on the Russian territory are carried out in the framework of protection against aggression and is a reaction to constant shelling of Ukrainian infrastructure by the Russian Federation.
