Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto expressed his indignation because the Ambassador of Hungary was not invited to the solemn ceremony of Poland's presidency in the European Union. His statement, which was heard sharply and without, was published by a spokesman for the Hungarian government Zoltan Kovach.
Siyarto called the decision of the Polish side to exclude the Hungarian diplomat from the invited "pathetic and children". These words reflect the serious discontent of Hungary, which views this gesture as an unfriendly step from Poland, the Union Country within the Visegrad Four.
The opening ceremony of Poland's presidency in the EU was held with the participation of high-ranking officials of other EU Member States, but the absence of a representative of Hungary became noticeable and attracted the attention of political observers.
At present, Poland has not provided official explanations about this step. The event has created the basis for new discussions on the relationship between the Visegrad Group countries and their unity in European policy.
