The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets reported that in the last two months, Ukraine has managed to return one and a half thousand bodies of dead Ukrainian military. According to him, this process, although complicated, continues to remain an important step in restoring dignity and memory of heroes.
Lubinets also emphasized the importance of improving the process of repatriation of the bodies of dead without bureaucratic delays. "The work is needed to have the procedure for repatriation of bodies on both sides without bureaucratic 'cavities'," the Ombudsman said.
These processes are part of Ukraine's wider efforts to return their citizens who have been captured or died as a result of hostilities.
Also recently, Ukraine has exchanged prisoners of war with Russia, which resulted in 95 Ukrainian military. This is another important step in restoring the rights and freedoms of citizens who were captured during the fighting.
According to Lubin, the efforts of returning the bodies of the dead military and the exchange of prisoners, is an important point not only for families, but for all Ukrainian society, which seeks justice and worthy honoring their heroes.
