During the Third International Food Security Conference "Grain from Ukraine" (Grain from Ukraine "), President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced a new initiative-the creation of Hub's grain homes in Africa. These centers will be an important component of food security on the continent, where the problem of hunger is particularly acute.
Despite Russian attacks that caused significant destruction of Ukrainian port infrastructure, Ukraine is not going to deviate from its mission. Zelensky stressed that the country remains a reliable partner for the whole world on food. Since the launch of Grain from Ukraine, 20 million people have been rescued from starvation. Ukrainian food exports annually provide food for 400 million people in more than 100 countries.
Ukraine plans to create hob-storage and distributions of food in African countries. Zelensky noted that in parallel with the opening of new embassies will develop this initiative. The main purpose is not only to supply food, but also to transfer technologies, exchange experience in agriculture, product processing and efficient use of resources. Following the conference of the partner country, they announced the allocation of $ 44 million to support Grain from Ukraine . This financial assistance will help to further work the humanitarian corridor and strengthen cooperation with African countries.
Russian aggression significantly complicates food exports. According to the President, since July last year, more than 60 purposeful blows have been struck by food infrastructure. 321 infrastructure object of ports of Ukraine was destroyed and more than 20 civilian vessels were damaged. However, Ukraine continues to work on ensuring a stable supply of food even in such difficult conditions.
Creating grain hubs in Africa is an important step not only in the fight against famine, but also in the development of Ukraine's bilateral relations with African countries. This demonstrates our country's desire for global solidarity and interaction, even in the face of aggression.
