Ukrainian innovation in the fight against the silencing of drones at the front

Ukrainian developers managed to create a software package for drones with machine vision called "Eagle Eyes", which helps to avoid jamming by the occupiers.

This product, developed by Ukrainian special forces, allows drones to navigate using only machine vision. Using artificial intelligence algorithms, the program compares real-time video images of the terrain with an on-board map stitched together from photos and videos previously collected by reconnaissance aircraft. This allows drones to continue to perform their tasks even after they have been silenced.

Eagle Eyes can also detect various ground targets such as tanks, transport vehicles, rocket launchers and combat helicopters. After recognition, the drone can independently release bombs or dive on these targets.

According to a military official, who wished to remain anonymous, Eagle Eyes is very effective at targeting jamming stations. Priority number two is Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile batteries.

During combat tests in the spring of 2023, only three groups of special forces were used, each of which had two or three drones. The commander of the "White Eagle" unit, which participated in these tests, Valery Borovyk, claims that today Eagle Eyes are widely used and are a cheap solution for kamikaze drones.

According to Borovyk, this system can operate at a distance of about 60 km, and it is used to strike Russia's energy infrastructure.

It is also worth noting that the direction of unmanned systems in the Territorial Defense Forces is being developed quite actively - each brigade is forming a company of strike unmanned aviation complexes, which needs information technology scientists and people with technical skills, appropriate education and rapid training.
