Ukraine has difficult negotiations with the EU on market access

Ukraine continues to negotiate with the European Union on trade conditions, including quotas for Ukrainian exports. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced this during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on June 6.

According to him, the Ukrainian delegation is currently in Brussels, where there is a discussion with European partners. He noted that the process is difficult and negotiations will probably continue next week. It is expected that the result will be achieved that will take into account the interests of Ukrainian business.

Shmigal stressed that the government does not predict economic losses in case of change of trade conditions. In parallel, work is being done to Article 29 of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU to provide stable conditions for Ukrainian exporters in the long run.

Since the commencement of a full -scale war in 2022, the European Union abolished duties and quotas for Ukrainian goods. In 2024, a number of European countries were in view of these conditions due to concern about competition in the domestic market.
