Ukraine is preparing to open a number of new checkpoints

This year, Ukraine plans to expand the border crossing network to reduce the load on the Ukrainian-Polish border. In particular, the new checkpoint is planned to open at the border with Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Poland.

This was announced by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov.

"We hope that we will open a new checkpoint with Hungary, and the existing -" Luzhanka " - will reorient to pass empty trucks, which will increase its capacity," the minister explained.

It is also planned to open a joint additional checkpoint with Moldova at the end of March, which has been under repair in the last months.

"This year is also expected to open new checkpoints with Romania and Poland. The project that started a few years ago we plan to complete this year," - assured the head of the Ministry of Community, Territories and Infrastructure.

The need for this step arose after blocking by Polish farmers six border crossing points on the border with Ukraine, which led to the formation of queues from trucks in Poland.

At the end of February 2024, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal announced the opening of a new checkpoint at the border of Ukraine and Hungary-"Great Pallad-Nadogodos". It is worth noting that this discovery was announced in 2019.
