On January 28, 2025, Ukraine took part in the NATO reserve officers forum held in Hummersbach (Germany). The event discussed important issues of reserve training and the development of the national resistance system. Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigade General of Justice Sergey Melnyk, presented the Ukrainian position and experience in building national resistance, which includes cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, civil society and local authorities.
The main theme of the forum was "public stability", and participants focused on the preparation of reservists, exchange of experience and creating effective models of interaction between military and civilian structures to counteract modern challenges, such as hybrid threats and cybersecurity.
Melnyk noted that Ukraine, as part of the Unified Confederation forum of NATO Reserve Officers, has new opportunities, including access to trainings and exercises that contribute to the improvement of readiness for modern threats. He stressed that Ukraine's participation in this format opens new prospects for the preparation of reserve officers and provides the exchange of best practices among the Alliance.
Particular attention was paid to the practical achievement of Ukraine in the field of public stability. Melnyk, as a participant in hostilities, shared the experience of interaction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with civil society and local authorities. He also stressed that Ukraine is fighting not only for its freedom, but also for the common values of the democratic world, and expressed gratitude to the international partners for their assistance.
